I am grateful to the local residents who joined me for my drop-in advice surgery at Durrington Library.
I was pleased to speak with local residents, alongside Cllr Dan Coxhill, about matters ranging from support for Ukrainian refugees to overseas aid.
One visitor stood out.
Nicci Parish set up Billy and Beyond CIC, a local charity, after tragically losing her son in November 2020. Billy had taken MDMA to celebrate his 24th birthday in lockdown. Billy was a fun-loving carer for adults with learning difficulties, an aspiring model and photographer. The story is tragic and Nikki's passion and love for her son is deeply felt.
Her ongoing mission is to support children and young people's mental well-being through raising awareness of the dangers of drugs and giving young people the knowledge of what to do if something goes wrong.
I commend her work and encourage others to read up on her campaign.
I share my thanks to the library team for their warm hospitality.
