Residents in Kingston and East Preston have been in touch with concerns about Arun District Council's proposals to install a large number of beach huts along the shoreline there.
It would be wrong for private estates and land to be developed in places that are not appropriate, against the wishes of residents and communities.
A short-sighted decision by Arun District Council will cause long-term harm to the idyllic natural promenade along our coast. It is clear that this is a cynical plan to bring in revenue at the expense of local residents.
Today at the roundabout of Golden Avenue and Coastal Road in East Preston, I met with local residents to see the threatened beach.
We will listen to the concerns and views of the community and show united support for our cherished local open spaces.
