I pledge to #HearHer. It is as simple as that.
We should all be prepared to listen to and appreciate the voices of survivors. We must deliver the mental health support they deserve.
It is harrowing to hear that almost half of women in refuge have reported feeling depressed or harbouring suicidal thoughts as a direct result of the domestic abuse that they experienced. We appreciate that these figures are likely to be even higher.
I am committed to working alongside colleagues and Women's Aid to change perceptions and attitudes towards survivors’ mental health which compound women’s trauma and inequality.
