It was a pleasure to speak with older campaigners and local Age UKs at the Age UK Summer Reception this week.
It was great to hear about their new report on the ‘State of Health and Care for older people in 2023’ and to talk about the experiences of older people in Worthing West.
A significant number of hospital admissions of older people could be avoided if they had received help earlier on, through social and community care, before small health problems become more severe.
A focus on prevention and early intervention would enable older people to stay fit and well in their own homes, or in care homes - and would also help alleviate pressure on hospitals.
