On Tuesday, a group of students from St Oscar Romero Catholic School impressed me with their interest and enthusiasm during a visit to Parliament.
During a question and answer session, we discussed ongoing campaigns in Parliament including work to save innocent lives of people trapped in hiding in Afghanistan. I had just returned from asking an urgent question of the Minister for Afghanistan Refugees in the chamber.
In attendance were also a number of members of the school's 'Fingerprints Not Footprints' campaigning group. I have been encouraged by the passion and perseverance of members of this student group. Several spoke during last year's gathering to defend Goring Gap and Chatsmore Farm. Some have since shadowed me and my team in Parliament.
Every year, I welcome hundreds of schoolchildren from across Worthing and Arun to Parliament for activities, workshops and tours provided by the award-winning Parliamentary Education Team.
