Earlier this week, as part of #ParliamentWeek celebrations, I joined college students with WSCC adult education leader Sarah Priest at the Fitzalan Howard Day Centre in Pavilion Road.
After an inquisitive and interesting discussion about the changing roles of MP and Parliament, I heard about their campaigns to make life better for wheelchair users.
We discussed my longstanding work to increase the accessibility and safety of pavements and pedestrianised areas. This includes improving ramps at crossings and reducing street furniture cluttering walkways and posing severe risks to those with visual impairments.
There has been progress; there are many improvements still to be made. I praised the young adults for their important campaign work and promised to work with them and for them in furthering these important aims.
