The Week Ahead
The Chancellor of the Exchequer will present his Spring Budget to Parliament this coming Wednesday. We look with cautious anticipation of the measures the Chancellor will introduce in response to the recent muted success of the Government's economic plan.
Ahead of the Budget, I spoke with the Chancellor to raise the concerns and priorities of local communities in Worthing and Arun.
This week, we also celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Commonwealth is a family of nations with a shared desire to promote peace and prosperity.
Commonwealth countries span the globe and, with a combined population of 2.5 billion, include almost a third of the worldโs population. At a celebratory event in the Palace of Westminster, I look forward to meeting Speakers and Presiding Officers of parliaments from across the Commonwealth.
On Friday we recognise International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. I am a proud founding member of the Denis Thatcher Society which is for men who are married to women more important than we are. If possible, I will speak in recognition and admiration for the women locally in Worthing and Arun, and nationally, who have paved the way for progress.
Equality is an ongoing battle, apathy is the enemy. We should recognise and value the strength that comes with diversity.
