I was welcomed by players and staff at Buzz Bingo on Rowlands Road.
Ken Turner, the general manager, leads with friendly charm and cheerfulness. Everyone anticipates a special Halloween evening next week.
For many community members in Worthing and Arun, bingo remains an exciting and social event to attend with the added possibility of getting lucky and winning some money.
Bingo clubs play an important role in addressing social isolation within our older communities, with many of the predominantly female customers seeing an afternoon or evening at the bingo as their main opportunity for a good night out, and a place they feel safe to visit.
I have been a long-standing supporter of Bingo locally and nationally. For several years, I have been an active member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Bingo which provides a forum to discuss and act upon issues affecting bingo clubs, including the thousands of employees and customers across the UK.
Engaging with and working in support of our bingo clubs is more critical than ever in 2023 as we see an ever-increasing number of clubs up and down the country forced to close.
