As we approach one of the most important dates in the Christian calendar, I join in wishing everyone in Worthing, Arun and across the UK warm wishes at Easter.
On Saturday, I joined local residents at Christ Church near my Worthing home on Ambrose Place for their Lent Lunch. We discused the importance of this period of time.
Lent is the 40 days (not including Sundays) from Ash Wednesday to the Saturday before Easter. Like other religions, it is a time for personal reflection and charitable dedication. Many residents across Worthing and Arun will have given up certain items as part of lent.
I have given up deserts throughout lent and will instead be donating to charity. My wife will be grateful. There are many charities and local good causes that can benefit from our efforts this Lent.
Along with a healthy light lunch of soup and fruit, we discussed local concerns and priorities in central Worthing. Thank you to all in attendance.
