On Monday I joined Tim Loughton MP in welcoming students from Worthing up to Westminster for a series of activities focused on the environment. St Oscar Romero Catholic School was represented, as always, by a group of passionate, knowledgeable and eloquent students with a deep care for protecting the environment.
The students later met with the Environment Minister to discuss important issues including local environmental matters and international campaigns.
We discussed recent work on important campaigns including to protect our water ways and tackle storm-overflow sewage release. Students took interest in my leadership on the campaign to end the greenwashing of biomass burning at the Drax powerplant in Yorkshire.
Later, I attended the Conservative Environmental Network reception where I discussed with the Environment Secretary the important role our future generation has in caring for the environment.
We must match their passion and enthusiasm for our environment and ensure that they inherit a planet that is not just surviving, but thriving.
