The Week Ahead
On Saturday, we recognised two years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the beginning of the largest refugee scheme in the UK since WW2. We opened our doors and our homes to them without hesitation at the beginning of what has become the largest refugee scheme in the UK since WW2.
I continue to stand with colleagues and supporters in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. We must continue to be unequivocal and unwavering in our support for the free people of Ukraine.
The bloodshed happening in Ukraine and in Gaza reminds us that peace is not a given in a world where intolerance and hate can dictate our politics.
This week I will chair the AGM for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Human Rights in the Gulf. We anticipate strong cross-party support for those caught up in the Infected Blood Scandal as we come together for a mass lobby with The Haemophilia Society on Wednesday in Westminster Hall.
The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill returns to the House this week for the report stage. This is an important step forward as this Bill progresses to becoming law. Sensible amendments may come forward to strengthen it. Expect bipartisan consensus on a positive way forward in bringing overdue justice to leaseholders across Worthing, Arun and the rest of England and Wales.
