The Week Ahead
Yesterday and today, we celebrate 75 years of our Commonwealth of Nations.
The Commonwealth is true to its very name - it is a family of nations with a wealth of common desire to work together to support and inspire each other. Over a third of the worldโs population, from across every continent and representing every major religion belongs to this family of nations.
At last year's Commonwealth Service in Westminster Abbey, his Majesty the King referred to the Commonwealth as 'a force for good in the world that demands our highest ambition'. As we reflect on a day of celebration, let us remember what makes our Commonwealth strong: diversity, ambition and togetherness.
At the end of this week, we celebrate English Tourism. I look forward to visiting some of our highlights here in Worthing and Arun (not for the first time) and recognising those who contribute to our valuable visitor economy.

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Nations at a flag-raising ceremony in Parliament with the Speaker
Meeting with Katy Bourne for Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner to discuss work to tackle shoplifting and retail crime in Worthing and Arun
Welcoming representatives of the International Consortium of British Pensioners from Australia to Parliament to discuss ongoing work to tackle the frozen pensions scandal
Attending a round-table meeting with front-line community pharmacists to discuss the new Pharmacy First initiative and the impressive work to reduce pressure on our GPs
Standing as an Officer for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Carbon Monoxide Safety
