Today marks the first day of #UKParliamentWeek 2021.
This marks the tenth year of Parliament Week.
It was launched in 2011 with the aim of to inspiring interest in parliament, politics and democracy and encourage young people and communities to engage with the our democratic system and institutions.
Each year, thousands of events happen across the country. Here in Worthing and Arun, our schools and scouting/guiding groups are the most active.
I am pleased to attend as many as possible, those both public and private, to help inspire the next generation to be engaged and to lead.
Today, Our Lady of Sion School welcomed me to speak to an assembly of bright and interested students. I am grateful to Tamara who has led fantastically on this.
If you would like your child’s school to engage with Parliament Week or more widely with Parliament and our democracy, should they not already be, encourage them to write to me at [email protected] or to visit https://learning.parliament.uk/en/schools-and-colleges/
