Heene Church of England Primary School offered a warm welcome to me as they prepared to elect MPPs, members of their pupil parliament.
Leading boys and girls showed me around, introducing me to classrooms before we went to the playground and on to the assembly led by Headteacher Linda Appleby.
During the assembly, the students taught me their new beloved singing Headteacher Linda's new song for the school, encapsulating the values of the community.
I shared an information pack about this year's Parliament Week activities and invited the students to come to visit Parliament when their timetables allowed.
Every year, I welcome hundreds of schoolchildren from across Worthing and Arun to Parliament and I always try to meet visitors to talk about the politics and history of Westminster, my work in Parliament and about local issues.
