This #WorldParkinsonsDay, the theme is ‘there isn’t one Parkinson’s journey’ and I am proud to unite with the #Parkinsons community and the need for specialised care and support.
Around 153,000 people in the UK have Parkinson's, and everyone’s journey is different.
It is shocking that people with Parkinson’s face so many barriers, including being mistaken for being drunk, when out in public.
I am pleased to join with Parkinson's UK in raising awareness of this debilitating disease.
At a roundtable discussion with the Institute of Biomedical Science earlier this year, I was particularly interested in the potential of their medical science in tackling diseases like Parkinson’s.
With greater research comes greater potential to provide care and worthwhile treatment.
With greater public and political interest in Parkinson's comes greater support and care.
