Today, Parliament returns after the Summer Recess. My team and I have continued through Summer to work in Westminster and Worthing West.
We have enjoyed a summer of festivities and safe community celebration across Worthing, Ferring, East Preston and Rustington.
I join in thanking members of Rotary and the Lions, the police and all involved in Festival committees for helping others to give and gain so much within our shared community.
Over the last two years, we have faced unpredictable and irreversible disruption and devastation. We recognise the improving situation over the Summer and welcome the opportunity and responsibility this gives in our return to some semblance of normality.
Schools have welcomed back students with minimal disruption but increased safety. Churches and other places of worship, already, are opening their doors to their communities. Much of our community life has returned. We must not forget those still facing difficulties and maintaining their safe distance.
We return following only a few weeks since the urgent need to discuss the terrible situation in Afghanistan. This remains an important topic.
Further issues we press on with include fire safety issues facing leaseholders as well as health and social care amongst many other important things.
No request for help has gone intentionally unanswered for the past six months – we will continue to be there for constituents when necessary and when desired. The challenges will change, but the opportunities to help will not.
My team and I continue to be readily available via email, telephone, social media or post.
