Alcohol addiction is a problem that affects millions of people worldwide, and it is a problem that we cannot afford to ignore.
Change Grow Live is a national health and social care charity providing a vital service here in Worthing and Arun. I met with representatives from Alcohol Health Alliance there to discuss the impact of alcohol harm.
Organisations and services like the AHA and CGL help to prevent health co-morbidities, reduce ‘cycling’ in and out of courts and prisons; and support vulnerable people into secure housing.
The team help to develop a tailored path out of alcohol addiction by offering advice and support from an experienced team of health and care staff, with employment and training support and specialist family services.
We work together to reduce the stigma associated with addiction and create a culture of openness and understanding, and make a difference for all those affected by alcohol addiction in our community.
This means working with our health and social care services, charities and community groups, local businesses, and residents. This also means taking a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnected nature of addiction and its impact on people's lives.
I give my thanks to everyone involved in the Alcohol Health Alliance (AHA), working together to reduce alcohol-related harm and to improve lives.
