On #WorldCancerDay I met Mercia, who was first diagnosed with cancer aged 25. Her devotion to increasing awareness and supporting research into Cancer should be celebrated.
Cancer reaches all of us, in one way or another. Family members, cherished friends, and valued colleagues have all been affected by cancer.
It is increasingly likely that almost everyone reading this post will have been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly. Friends and loved ones are currently going through diagnosis and treatment.
Each year, World Cancer Day unites people around the globe to raise awareness of cancer and to call on our governments to take action to tackle this disease.
I stand with cancer patients and Cancer Research UK in support of improved early detection and even better treatment. The Government must continue to support research and diagnosis services to reduce wait times and increase survival rates.
