Litter picking and other forms of community action have an immediate, visible and lasting difference to the community and environment where we live, work and play.
Working closely with Cllr Russ Cochran and Community Champion, Josh Harris, I was pleased to be out making our difference to Northbrook Rec. Residents and visitors alike praise the pleasant green space at the heart of a busy area.
Cllr Russ has worked hard in recent years to improve the grounds and increase accessibility and facilities for the local younger generations who lack adequate services and places to socialise. He launched this year with a mass-litter pick bringing together residents, young and old, to clear the park of litter accumulated over the harsh winter.
His recent plans to bring in over £500,000 to fund a brand new youth centre and facilities here at Durrington Rec will have improved the park ten-fold. I join in concern that Worthing Borough Council's Labour leadership rejected the plan to apply for such a staggering amount of central Government funding.
More bins, more sports space, more provision for our local youth: who could be against that?
