I was pleased to join with the Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs to help launch the Outdoors For All Manifesto.
The Outdoors For All manifesto is supported by more than 40 organisations across the environment and recreation sectors. It sets out tangible measures to help maximise and strengthen policies on outdoor recreation for everyone alongside nature recovery.
Some of the local organisations involved include the Campaign for National Parks and National Trust.
A new bill will create opportunities for people to enjoy more land and water for activities including cycling, walking, climbing, horse riding, caving, swimming, flying and paddling.
The government has set its sights on getting 3.5 million more people active by 2030, through its Sporting Future Strategy.
To achieve these sensible targets, rights to responsibly access the outdoors must be expanded.
I support calls for extended protection for bathing waters, increased right to roam and improved access to riverside and seaside walking routes.
The outdoors is for everyone. I am proud to campaign to protect and enhance our green spaces for the benefit of people, nature and the planet.
