Today is #InternationalWomensDay, a celebration of the achievements and the valuable role women play in public life.
The day gives necessary focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
I was pleased to attend this year's 'Women in Westminster: The 100' awards, an important celebration recognising one hundred women from across the world of Westminster who are leading the way in politics and public services.
These women, some are colleagues and many are friends, excel in their respective spheres and help to inspire the next generation to make a difference. This is a result of their tireless advocacy, innovation and leadership.
