One in a hundred Brits has epilepsy, which means up to 1,000 live locally here in Worthing and Arun with this condition.
Seeing a seizure can be scary - I know from experience. But having the confidence to act quickly and calmly can save lives.
As part of World First Aid Day celebrations in Parliament, I spoke to volunteers with epilepsy, Jo and Teni, who helpfully reminded me of the simple first aid technique, encouraged by the Epilepsy Society: Calm. Cushion. Call.
Stay calm and take control of the situation
Cushion their head with something soft
Call an ambulance.
