Last week, I attended the Loneliness Festive Fayre organised by the British Red Cross.
I enjoyed talking to the Youth Ambassadors for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme who spoke with great excitement about their DofE experience.
I applaud the work of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme. In the past year, over 100 local young adults started their DofE Award and national volunteering hours have soared by 64% to over 3.5million, amounting to an equivalent of £17 million in paid working hours of service to our communities.
Let us share in celebrating St Oscar Romero Catholic School who had the largest uptake in the past year of young people starting their DofE.
Volunteering enriches our soul. I commend those who show such great enthusiasm and dedication to their community at a young age.
